What inspired the making of “Glory.”

I have been drawn to the clothing scene for some time now, following the different brands that have come out, but the one brand in particular that inspired “Glory” is “Bape, A Bathing Ape in Lukewarm Water.” In seeing this brand I knew I wanted to create something and it be similar to this brand.

It all started with me calling a close friend of mine and telling him that I wanted to create something. Days later he came from where he stayed, which was a bit of a distance, to where I was staying at the time with a pad and a pencil and he said to me, “What do you wanna do?”

From there I began to create little characters and create a concept around these characters and a name that I thought was fitting at the time, which was OG, but this turned out not to be a clothing brand at all. This I found out later as I drew closer to God.

Around the same time I started to get ideas for something else, wanting it to be more like “Bape.” The name I had in mind came first, which was, “Birdy.” I knew that I wanted to do something similar, but not just like “Bape” so instead of using a land animal, in which Bape uses the Ape, I used an animal that you would see in the sky which at the time was a bird, in particularly a Parrot. I started to draw inspiration from some of the “Bape” images, creating the logo, character mascots, and created concepts in which my older brother was apart of this process at the time. I believe the face logo for the brand was the last part before the idea was shelved before my family and I went on a sabbatical.

Years into the sabbatical God began to surface business and starting the business “The Vision.” I had another idea already known and understood to be gone forth in, and the shelved idea began to surface as well. I remember not really being settled with the shelved idea and the name, because as I said before I wanted it to be like “Bape.” With “Bape” the “B” was put infront of the word “Ape,” which is their face logo and mascot, creating the word “Bape” the “B” stood for “Bathing” and put together with the word “Ape” creating the phase “A Bathing Ape” and I knew I wanted to do something similar to that. I remember another species of birds coming up around this time which were the “Lorikeet.” I then remember creating a similar face logo like the Parrot. After creating it I was more drawn to the face logo of the Lorikeet. After that it was the name that I was unsettled about. I then started to look up the name of the bird and the shorter name for this species is “Lory.” I then started to see what letter was fitting to go with the word “Lory” seeing that I wanted it to be like “Bape. I remember “G” coming up which would create the word “Glory.” I then discussed this with my mother at the time and God gave confirmation to this name. This led to a logo change from what I had being “Birdy” to “Glory.” I then started to think about what the “G” would mean and “Gliding” came up, in which birds glide in the air. Then I put this together “A Gliding Lory” which is “Glory.”

“Glory”

The name was given by God, which is referring to God's glory and His glory being seen all around and Him getting glory to Himself through His creation and through the things that His people say and do.

“A Gliding Lory”

Refers to how birds catch the wind to glide. This speaks to those, saying that we have to catch the wind of the Spirit, by being Spirit led and through this we experience God's glory or bring His glory down through doing this.
